Description

Marine engineers are responsible for the design and construction of seagoing vessels and structures, focusing primarily on their internal systems. They design the onboard electrical, environmental and propulsion systems aboard everything from oil platforms to cruise ships.

Qualifications

Only a one-year specialized course is needed. A one-year Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) course after mechanical engineering would give you the license to enter the merchant navy. This one-year GME course is all you need to become a marine engineer after mechanical engeering.
